A place of memory and remembrance, the Promenade of La Condesa forms a major part of local identity.
The statue of Guzmán el Bueno marks the start of a route in the form of a boulevard with chestnut trees and ornamental hedgerows. The gardens go as far as the Hostal de San Marcos, following the course of the river Bernesga. If you look back, you can see the bandstand built in the Japanese style, which was a traditional meeting point for lovers. Now it is used by youngsters to practice breakdancing.
